Dead Pixel Test

How to test for dead pixels?

  • 1
    Click the "Start Test" button.
  • 2
Your screen should show a solid color all over.
If you see any pixel on the screen that isn't of that solid color, that pixel is a dead pixel.
  • 3
Change to other solid colors by clicking on the left/right arrows.
    That could help.
Identifying dead pixels might be easier on a white background, for example, than on black.

What can I do if I identify a dead pixel?

  • In most cases there's nothing to be done other than taking the screen to a lab to be replaced. If the pixel is not black, however, but rather stuck on green, blue or red, then it's not quite dead yet, just stuck!.
  • A stuck pixel can sometimes be fixed by applying some light pressure (be careful not to scratch your screen or apply too strong of a pressure that might crack it):

    -Turn the screen off
-Put a soft cloth over the spot
    -Press gently for 5-10 seconds
    -Turn screen back on.
  • There are also pixel fixer videos and software that run a series of colors all over your screen and can bring stuck pixels back to normal. Try this video for example. Run the video, put the device away and let the video play for its entire 10 minute length.
